Facilitating with Emotional Intelligence

Human emotions are inseparable from learning and interpersonal interactions, so emotional intelligence is central to being an effective facilitator.

This program clarifies the crucial role of emotion in facilitation and provides a practical model of emotional intelligence. It covers strategies for proactively identifying, assessing and influencing the emotions of one’s self and others. Particular emphasis is placed on extending self-awareness.

“There is no separation of mind and emotions; emotions, thinking, and learning are all linked”

Eric Jensen

7.5 CPD Hours

This facilitation program consists of four phases:

As shown above, this online program consists of ten levels, which extend over nine weeks. Throughout this period, learners are encouraged to collaborate and share ideas through a program chat room.

Phase 1: READY

Phase 2: SET

The two hour live facilitator-led workshop will provide you with practical, research-based concepts and principles to enhance your knowledge and skills.

Phase 3: GO

This phase covers your application and exploration of the know-how gained during the virtual workshop and concludes when you commence Phase 4.

Practical activities in this phase are included for a number of purposes:

  • Focus attention
  • Stimulate recall
  • Reinforce learning
  • Encourage application
  • Strengthen memory
  • Guide action

These activities include for example; peer conversations, challenges, checklists, internet resources, specific facilitation techniques, scenario analysis, self-assessment and further reading.

Phase 4: SHOW
In order to complete the program and receive a Certificate of Achievement, you need to submit an achievement story.
